Antivirus and Antispam
The Internet is still flooded with different computer viruses and worms. Thanks to good antivirus programs and fast updates many companies have this problem under control by now.
We too recommend a so-called three phase protection: work station, server and mail server need mandatory virus protection. In addition to that, the mail gateway and the firewall can be equipped with antivirus protection. Especially for combined antivirus and antispam solutions, the gateway protection makes sense because this way the number of mails on the internal mail server (e.g. Microsoft Exchange) can be reduced considerably.
Experience has shown that solutions with focus on central administration and distribution of updates are best. Especially notebooks that are rarely connected to the company network need to be able to receive updates from different sources. When the notebook is connected to the company network it loads the update from the internal server. If the employee is out on business with the notebook and has Internet access, the program updates automatically via Internet.
